Description
* We have received reports that vehicle carrier, THAMES HIGHWAY(IMO: 9316294) experienced a fire in the engine room after departing the port of Emden, Germany on 26 January 2026.
* It is reported that the incident caused a blackout, leaving the vessel without propulsion or manoeuvrability.
* Firefighting teams were deployed to the vessel, and it is reported that the fire was successfully extinguished, with no damage to the vehicles on board; however, the vessel remained unmanoeuvrable and was scheduled to be towed back to Emden for inspection and possibly, repairs.
* It is possible that General Average / Salvage and associated Recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.
